Nepal, where the dream ends {4}

09/29/07
There was a half day work I had to finish before enjoying my vacation. Everything was in a hurry the day before I took plane. I didn’t buy backpack. My sports shoes are not protective enough for a trekking onto mountain. And my spirit is in a mess. Thus I spent a whole evening with JiaJia in Decathlon sports shop until its close time to buy necessities, and afterwards one more hour in Wal-Mart.

We had a fast preparation. At least, we were both satisfied with the shopping. There is only one problem I felt. My haircut. Actually it needs to be modified a little. But I had no time to spare.

Nevertheless, we went for HK catching the flight on time.

The Nepal Airline stewardess looks a kind of oriental beauty. I’m so pitiful having not taken any photo with one of them. Their uniforms are in traditional Nepali dress which triggered me much imagination on this faraway western Asian country, and made the four to five hours flight to be tolerable.

Finally, we landed. Surprise came along later. The inside facilities of airport just look like a high school. This is a strange description. Foreigners may not know what Chinese high school looks like. Or even this low ceiling floor is not exactly our high school. But almost everyone from this Chinese tour group thought it a high school style airport. Is it weird?

Without time on pondering this further more, we jumped into a taxi that JingJing’s boyfriend asked for us in advance. He has spent two or three days here earlier than us. It’s time for him to serve his queen now. And we were luck to accompany his queen from China : )

Taxi was turning around buildings in this unknown city, while I saw a poor countryside view under road lights. This is Kathmandu city, capital of Nepal. I cannot believe my eye. We could only see such scene in remote town of nowadays China. “It’s really a poor country” I thought. And then our accommodation left me a more nervous mind on coming days’ program. There was no hot water for shower. We were so late at hotel and usually they supplied hot water from late daytime to early evening – this is I learnt from experience on this trip. So, we had to sleep listening noisy barking from nearby streets dogs. The bed sheet smelled terribly so that I had to spray strong perfume to prevent my nose breathing smelly sheet. (I almost want to type smelly shit). Regarding this, I was thinking in bed maybe JingJing is not her boyfriend’s queen while my dear roommate snored already.

With a wish tomorrow would be better, I fell into sleep tiredly.
We planed to take the earliest bus to Pohkara city on next morning.
